The ultimate is the X-loc on the XX range, all bar mounted lock-outs for Rock Shox are ***, I had endless issues with mine, I now have a SID XX with the X-loc and it works brilliantly. I am not sure how his SID works but if its like my Reba then the lockout has a blowoff so if a big hit comes it will still compress. If its like this, then this solution would not work for him as he doesn't have an air spring that works.

The SID SL Ultimate is your secret weapon. With the Trek Supercaliber 9.8 test bike, I learned a thing or two about secret XC weapons. That bike’s secret weapon is the lockout system which allows you to eke out just a little more speed during standing efforts.

I have a RockShox Deluxe RT and the blue lockout switch no longer does anything. It used to provide a much stiffer ride when locked (not full lockout), but now there is no difference. Please know the lockout setting on most RockShox forks is not a “hard lockout”- meaning you will have about an inch of movement when the fork is the locked mode. We call this feature Small Bump Compliance, and the intention is that the wheel will continue to track over ground with control, even in the locked setting.

I put everything back together and it worked fine except the lockout was acting up. At first the lockout did not work and then after a couple days of sitting it began working. The directions call for me to turn the hex knob under the lockout switch (no pop lock) all the way counter clockwise and then set the knob to 3-O'clock and that should do it.
